Review: Love Street Living Foods

November 6, 2010
by Amber Shea @Almost Vegan

Remember when I showed you all the snacks I hauled down to Oklahoma City with me? Some of those (like Pure Bars, Cavewoman Bars, and Zhena’s Gypsy Tea) are products I’ve already reviewed on this blog. Several of the others are items I will be reviewing here. One of those brands, which I’m excited to finally talk about, is Love Street Living Foods.

Love Street Living Foods is a company that offers offers 100% organic, unprocessed living foods, both their own and other brands’. Every single item in the Love Street online store, from ingredients to prepared foods, is:

• Living/raw, with all nutrients, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals bio-available as nutrition.
• Vegan (with the exception of pure raw organic honey).
• 100% unprocessed; free from toxins and carcinogens created when food is cooked.
• Produced without animal testing or pesticides.
• 100% free of refined sugars, hydrogenated oils, gluten, natural flavors, MSG, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), food additives, and refined flour.

This Vanilla Cookie Crumble Cereal is from their own Love Street Originals line of products. Containing only coconut, almonds, pumpkin seeds, figs, agave nectar, sea salt, vanilla bean, cinnamon, and ginger, it’s the kind of snack I’d make in my own kitchen. It comes in big chunks, rather than crumbles, and is nutty in flavor and delightfully crunchy. As a result, it went perfectly with this pair of ultra-soft dates.

Love Street carries a nice selection of Artisana products, and sent me a 1-oz. sample jar of the macadamia nut butter to try. As much as I adore nut butter, though, I have to say I was more excited for the chocolate spreads!

They sent me two: their original chocolate spread and their chocolate coconut spread.

Similar to my raw chocolate ganache, these spreads both contain agave nectar, cacao, and vanilla. The chocolate coconut spread also includes raw coconut butter! Although I thought of many treats I could put these on or in, I wound up eating both spreads either slathered on a banana or straight out of the jar.

Be sure to check out all their premium food products, original chocolates, supplements and superfoods, and holistic body care products. Some items that are on my wish list right now are the Brazilnut protein powder, granulated maple sugar, and frozen chocolate chunk bonbons…YUM.
