Shower Hose Filter
in Chrome or Gold

Half of our daily chlorine exposure comes from showering.

As chlorine is absorbed through the skin, it also vaporizes in the shower, is inhaled into the lungs, and transfers directly into the blood stream.

Chlorine also
- irritates the skin
- increases the rates of infertility
- supports bladder infection

This Shower Hose Filter removes chlorine and other chemical toxins from your water when installed between your existing hand held shower nozzle, and shower hose.  You'll immediately notice the results - shiny, smooth hair and soft, healthier-feeling skin. Plus, because it makes water wetter, beauty products work better so you'll use less shampoo and soap.

The EPA's guidelines allow public water treatment plants to use up to 4 parts per million (ppm) of chlorine. But this amount, whether people know it or not, is actually very alarming seeing that most pool kits say that water with more then 3 ppm is unsafe to swim in!

Most people worry about chlorine in drinking water, but what's even more dangerous and harmful to your health is showering in it. In fact during a 10-minute shower, your body will in up to 50 times the level of water-borne chemicals (chlorine) than from drinking a glass of the same water. This is because taking a warm/hot shower opens up your pores more, which causes accelerated absorption of chlorine and other chemicals.

What's even worse is the steam you inhale- it's far more contaminated that the water itself because these chemicals vaporize much faster than water. Chlorine that's inhaled goes directly to the bloodstream and has magnified negative effects. And if you can believe it, roughly two-thirds of the harmful effects of chlorine are experienced through inhalation and skin absorption while showering.

Because of the simple fact that we cannot individually control what is used to make and grow our food or what's pumped into the air we breath, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE that we take control over the water we consume! By using point-of-use water filtration systems, you can assure that the water you and your family drinks, cooks with, and bathes with is pure, healthy, and free of contaminants.

Important Information:
How does this Shower Hose Filter work?

Zinc and copper filter the chlorine
 * Carbon is ok for filtering cold-water systems, but in hot water, it houses bacteria.

Calcium converts and removes the combined chlorine
 * Combined chlorine is formed when free chlorine combines with ammonia, soap or other nitrogen-containing organic compounds

Our filters are NSF (www.nsf.org) certified.

This is the ONLY non-carbon filter with shower handle to remove:

  • Free Chlorine (Cl-)
  • Combined Chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite)
  • Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell)
  • Iron oxide (rust water)
  • Dirt, sediment
  • Odors
  • Plus, its pH balanced

Features include:

  • Attaches to any Shower Handle
  • Made with ABS Food Grade Plastic
  • No Chemicals in Production (ultrasonic welding)
  • Reversible Filter Cartridge
  • Cartridge Life Rating: 3 Months
This Shower Hose Filter is an economical filter that can be attached to any shower handle. The filter cartridge is easy to reverse or replace. The swivel-ball attachment allows the filter to adjust to any angle. The stylish design makes this filter compatible with all models.

When do I replace my filter?

When you install your (Eco-Showerhead), it will filter out 99% of all the chlorine in your shower water.  Over time, it's effectiveness will decrease.  Depending on the amount of chlorine used in your area, this shower filter is rated to last between 1.5 months (minimum) and 3 months (maximum).  If you have a lot of chlorine in your water supply, you may prefer to change your cartridge at the minimum recommendation.  We recommend changing your cartridge by the maximum time frame because oxidation occurs after that point which limits effectiveness.  Replacement cartridges can be purchased on our website above.

All of our showerheads are certified to a 177 standard by  NSF.

This certifies the reduction through a shower filter of free available chlorine that may be present in the water.

The Bottom Line: Use a filter or be a filter. This filter is the best looking, most economical, easy-to-use Shower Hose Filter available to compliment your home decor and keep your family safe.  No home (that doesn't get their water from a pure water source) should be without one.

History of Chlorine:
Chlorine was first used as a germicide to prevent the spread of puerperal fever in the maternity wards of Vienna General Hospital in Austria in 1847, and in 1850 by John Snow to disinfect the water supply in London after an outbreak of cholera. The US Department of Treasury called for all water to be disinfected with chlorine by 1918.  Chlorine gas was first introduced as a weapon on April 22, 1915 at Ypres by the German Army, and the results of this weapon were disastrous because gas masks had not yet been invented.

Health Effects Of Chlorine:
Chlorine is a toxic gas that irritates the respiratory system. Because it is heavier than air, it tends to accumulate at the bottom of poorly ventilated spaces. Chlorine gas is a strong oxidizer, which may react with flammable materials.
Chlorine is detectable in concentrations of as low as 1 ppm (parts per million). Coughing and vomiting may occur at 30 ppm and lung damage at 60 ppm. About 1000 ppm can be fatal after a few deep breaths of the gas. Breathing lower concentrations can aggravate the respiratory system, and exposure to the gas can irritate the eyes.
Chlorine's toxicity comes from its oxidizing power. When chlorine is inhaled at concentrations above 30ppm it begins to react with water and cells which change it into hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hypochlorous acid (HClO).

Chlorine And Your Water Supply:
Most cities in the United States deliver chlorinated water in the 2-4 ppm (parts per million) concentration range. While this level of chlorine in your shower and bath water may not make you sick, it is still a potential health hazard and possible carcinogen. Research has shown that chronic exposure to chlorine concentrations of around 5 ppm caused respiratory complaints, corrosion of the teeth, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, and increased susceptibility to emphysema, pneumonia and tuberculosis in workers. Animal studies have reported decreased body weight gain, eye and nose irritation, and effects on the respiratory tract, liver, and kidneys from chronic inhalation exposure to chlorine. Studies published in Nature and Health magazine indicate the likelihood that regular exposure to chlorinated water can even promote the aging process of the skin, much like extended exposure to sunlight.
